New progress has been revealed at the future home of Dundee Museum of Transport, with major transformation work continuing at the historic Maryfield tram depot site.
The latest update, shared by the museum on 6 May, shows significant changes both inside the depot and across the wider site as redevelopment work gathers pace.
One of the biggest visible developments in recent weeks has been work taking place on the external walls of the historic structure. The works are helping stabilise and prepare the building as part of its long-term transformation into the museum’s permanent new home.

Inside the depot, preparations are continuing for the next stages of redevelopment, with the huge scale of the former tram facility becoming increasingly clear as work progresses. The project aims to breathe new life into one of Dundee’s most historically important transport buildings.
Outside the site, tree removal and wider clearance work is now underway to allow for the construction of the museum’s future entrance. The changes are expected to play a major role in shaping how visitors will arrive at and experience the attraction once complete.
The Maryfield tram depot has long been viewed as one of Dundee’s most architecturally significant industrial buildings, with the museum’s relocation project set to preserve the structure while creating a major new visitor destination for the city.
Dundee Museum of Transport has regularly shared updates throughout the redevelopment process, with excitement continuing to build around the future of the site and what it could mean for the museum’s long-term growth.
The museum says further updates will continue to be released as the transformation project moves into its next phases.
