Eden Project Dundee is still 'on track' as major funding talks progress

Eden Project says its ambitious plans for Dundee remain “on track” as the project enters its crucial funding phase.

In a major update first reported by The Courier, Eden Project chief executive Andy Jasper has confirmed that the proposed attraction at the former gasworks on East Dock Street has now progressed from planning and development to securing the investment needed to make it a reality.

Eden says the design work, budgeting, business and operating plans and business case are all complete, while planning permission was secured in 2024.

Attention is now focused on assembling the funding package for the £130m+ development, with discussions under way with major potential backers including the Scottish and UK governments.

There is no updated opening date at present, with the timeline dependent on securing the necessary funding. Once major commitments are in place, Eden estimates construction would take around 33 months.

If delivered, Eden Project Scotland is expected to attract around 500,000 visitors to Dundee every year, creating a major new attraction on the former industrial site.
