V&A Dundee has been recognised as one of the best museums in the UK to visit in 2026 after being featured in a new list by TimeOut.
The international travel and culture publication highlighted the Dundee landmark among the country’s must-visit museums, praising both its striking architecture and world-class exhibitions.
Located on Dundee’s waterfront overlooking the River Tay, V&A Dundee has become one of Scotland’s leading visitor attractions since opening in 2018. TimeOut described the museum as a testament to Dundee’s design credentials and highlighted the city’s role in creating everything from Beano and Dandy comics to orange marmalade, aspirin and globally successful video games such as Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto.
The publication also singled out the museum’s free Scottish Design Galleries, which feature around 300 objects spanning centuries of Scottish creativity and innovation. Among the collection are rare historic artefacts alongside modern design works, showcasing the breadth of Scotland’s contribution to design, culture and technology.
TimeOut also praised the museum’s programme of major exhibitions, noting that they are the kind of shows visitors would travel hundreds of miles to experience.
One of the headline attractions for 2026 is Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show, an exhibition exploring the creativity and spectacle behind fashion shows. The exhibition features garments and archival materials linked to some of the fashion industry’s most influential names, including Alexander McQueen, Maison Margiela and Scotland’s own Charles Jeffrey.
Looking ahead, TimeOut also highlighted plans for a major exhibition in 2027 centred on fashion icon Vivienne Westwood, exploring her jewellery designs and her connections to Scotland.
The recognition comes as V&A Dundee continues to attract visitors from across the UK and beyond, helping strengthen Dundee’s reputation as one of Scotland’s leading cultural destinations.
