Temperatures set to increase to 25C in Dundee next week

Temperatures in Dundee are set to climb to around 25C next week as summer weather returns to Scotland, while parts of England could see temperatures soar as high as 38C amid warnings of an intense heatwave.

According to forecasts from the Met Office, Dundee is expected to enjoy several days of warm and settled conditions as astronomical summer gets underway following the summer solstice.

While temperatures in the City of Discovery are forecast to remain in the mid-20s, significantly hotter conditions are expected further south.

Forecasters have suggested parts of England could experience temperatures approaching 38C, potentially making it one of the hottest spells of weather seen in recent years.

For Dundee, the warmer weather is likely to provide ideal conditions for spending time outdoors, visiting the city’s parks and waterfront, or enjoying some of the many events taking place across the region as the summer season begins in earnest.

The contrast between Scotland and southern England highlights the scale of the weather system affecting the UK.

While Scotland is expected to experience warm and pleasant conditions, temperatures are forecast to remain several degrees below those expected further south.

The arrival of warmer weather coincides with astronomical summer, which officially begins tomorrow, marking the longest days of the year and the traditional start of the summer season.

As always, weather forecasts remain subject to change, but for now it appears Dundee residents could be reaching for the sun cream as temperatures rise towards 25C in the coming days.
