One of Dundee's best-known landmarks is undergoing a major refurbishment, with scaffolding now surrounding the historic Hilltown Clock while essential maintenance work takes place.

The 126-year-old timepiece has been enclosed in scaffolding as contractors begin work to preserve the landmark, which has stood at the top of Hilltown since 1900.

As per The Courier, city officials have said that the scaffolding is expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future while repainting and maintenance work is carried out on the structure.

The refurbishment is intended to help protect the clock for years to come, ensuring one of Dundee's most recognisable landmarks continues to watch over the Hilltown.

Although the clock will be partially hidden during the works, the restoration forms part of the ongoing maintenance of the city's historic public monuments.

No completion date for the project has yet been confirmed.
