Dundee Museum of Transport have just opened a new exhibition celebrating Dundee’s tram era, and Dundee Culture got the first look.

Visitors can now step aboard a piece of Dundee's transport history thanks to a remarkable new exhibition opening at Dundee Museum of Transport.

Oor Trams: Dundee's Tram Era Remembered, id the major new exhibition exploring the story of the city's tram network and the role it played in shaping daily life across Dundee.

It will be the final exhibition at the current Market Mews site before the museum moves to the much anticipated Maryfield Tram Depot on Forfar Road, which once used to house trams back in the 20th century.

At the heart of the exhibition is an impressive reconstruction of the front section of a Dundee electric tram, painstakingly recreated by museum volunteers using original plans dating back to 1926.

The striking exhibit gives visitors the opportunity to experience what it would have been like to step aboard on Dundee's trams during their heyday.

The reconstruction has been months in the making and showcases the incredible craftsmanship and dedication of the volunteers who brought the project to life.

Every detail has been carefully considered, from the tram's distinctive exterior to the interior features that would have been familiar to passengers nearly a century ago.

Alongside the reconstructed tram, visitors can explore a wealth of photographs, artefacts, historical documents and stories that chart the rise and fall of Dundee's tram network.

The exhibition also highlights the people who designed, operated and travelled on the trams, preserving memories from an era that transformed how Dundonians moved around their city.

The reconstructed tram carries a destination blind displaying "Maryfield" - a fitting tribute to the historic Maryfield Tram Depot, which celebrates its 125th anniversary this year and is set to become the future home of the museum.

The exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into a transport system that served Dundee for generations before the final tram ran in 1956.

While the city's trams disappeared from the streets seven decades ago, this new exhibition ensures their story will continue to be shared with future generations.

Oor Trams: Dundee's Tram Era Remembered is now open at Dundee Museum of Transport and will run until 31 October.
