With just one month to go, Dundee is preparing to once again transform into one of the UK’s biggest hubs for house music as Dundee Dance Event returns for 2026.
What started as a small, grassroots idea has grown into a major city-wide celebration, with thousands expected to take part across the day.

This year’s edition is set to be the biggest yet, continuing the event’s steady growth while staying true to its original aim - giving DJs a platform and bringing people together through music.
From early afternoon through to the late-night closing party, Dundee’s streets will be filled with movement, energy and a shared love of dance music.

A total of 36 venues will take part this year, turning Dundee into a fully connected music trail. Well-known spots like Abandon Ship, Bird & Bear, Firewater and Grouchos will be joined by a wide mix of bars and spaces including Giddy Goose, Nether Inn, Nola, Riddoch’s, Temple Lane and Vinyls Music Bar.

The artists
More than 200 DJs and artists will perform across the event, with over 30 appearing for the first time.
That balance of new and returning talent remains central to what Dundee Dance Event is all about, giving emerging DJs the chance to play in front of real crowds while sharing the stage with more established names.
The variety of line-ups across venues means there is something for everyone, whether it’s deep house, tech, minimal or more mainstream sounds. Each space brings its own identity, helping to create a day that feels constantly changing as people move around the city.
Artists to watch
Mario Vice

Among the standout names this year is Mario Vice, a rising DJ and producer from northern Spain. With recent tours across Europe, Canada and Ibiza, as well as releases on major house labels, he arrives in Dundee with growing international momentum. He will play at Nether Inn, Riddoch’s and Temple Lane across the day.
Wellzee

Also featured is Wellzee, a Midlands-born DJ who has built a strong reputation across Europe and the United States. With chart success on Beatport and support from BBC Introducing, his sets bring a high-energy, polished sound. He is scheduled to perform at Nola and Bird & Bear as part of this year’s line-up.
The history of Dundee Dance Event
Dundee Dance Event first launched in 1998, created by organiser Mike McDonald as a response to a “closed shop” club scene that made it difficult for new DJs to get opportunities. The original event brought together 17 DJs across nine venues, including a now-legendary outdoor stage in City Square.

After two successful years, many of those early DJs went on to build careers across the UK and beyond, with some even performing at major festivals.
The event later returned in 2011 after more than a decade away, quickly gaining momentum once again. Within five years, it had grown to 25 venues and 140 DJs, and it has continued to expand ever since.
Today, Dundee Dance Event is recognised as the largest event of its kind in the UK, drawing visitors and performers from across the country and beyond. While the scale has grown, the focus remains the same - a day built around community, music and discovery.

Buy tickets
Daytime venues remain free to attend, making the event accessible to all, while ticketed elements like the closing party and the DDE Rave Cave at LIVEHOUSE offer a more intense experience. Organisers have also continued to evolve the event each year, refining layouts and introducing new ideas to keep it fresh.
With its biggest line-up to date, new talent stepping forward and returning favourites across the city, Dundee Dance Event 2026 is shaping up to be another landmark moment. The countdown is now firmly underway, with excitement building across Dundee’s music scene.
As the city gets ready for one of its most anticipated days of the year, the message remains simple - it’s about the music, the people and one massive day out in Dundee.
