A new coastal bus route by Ember connecting Perth and Aberdeen is set to bring improved travel options for Dundee, with regular services stopping in the city from early April.
The route, launching on 8 April, will run along Scotland’s east coast and include Dundee as a key stop. Travelling north, services will call at Dundee Railway Station before continuing on to Arbroath, St Cyrus and Stonehaven, eventually reaching Aberdeen. For those heading south, the route will stop at Slessor Gardens, placing passengers right in the heart of Dundee’s waterfront.
In its initial phase, the service will operate with 10 return journeys per day, offering consistent connections between Dundee and surrounding coastal towns. From 13 April, this will increase to 13 return services daily, with further expansions and additional stops expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
For Dundee, the new route strengthens links not only with Perth and Aberdeen but also with nearby communities such as Arbroath. It offers another convenient option for commuters, day-trippers and visitors, particularly as the city continues to grow as a destination along Scotland’s east coast.
Affordable pricing is also expected to be a key attraction. Tickets from Arbroath to Dundee are priced at £4.05, while journeys from Perth to Dundee cost £4.85 when booked online, making it a competitive alternative to existing travel options.
The route is expected to support tourism and local travel alike, with stops at key locations including Dundee’s waterfront. With services increasing shortly after launch and further updates on the way, the new coastal connection could become an important addition to Dundee’s transport network.
