Dundee Get Together is happening this weekend - here's everything you need to know

Dundee is set to come together this weekend for a brand-new event celebrating kindness, culture and community spirit in the heart of the city.

Dundee Get Together will transform City Square into a vibrant hub of music, dance, activities and celebration, bringing together hundreds of people from across Dundee's diverse communities.

The event aims to showcase the clubs, organisations and groups that help make Dundee a welcoming and inclusive place to live, while encouraging people to connect, learn about different cultures and enjoy a packed afternoon of free entertainment.

Whether you're planning to join the parade route, take part in the activities or simply soak up the atmosphere, here's everything you need to know ahead of the event.

What is Dundee Get Together?

Dundee Get Together is a new city-wide event celebrating Dundee's cultural diversity while promoting kindness, inclusion and community spirit.

The event will feature a colourful community parade, cultural performances, interactive activities and a special Dundee Kindness Exhibition created by school pupils from across the city.

Organisers hope the event will provide an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, celebrate what makes Dundee unique and recognise the many groups that help strengthen communities across the city.

Where and when is the event?

Dundee Get Together takes place on 13 June from 3pm until 6pm.

City Square will serve as the main hub for the event, with activities running throughout the afternoon. The community parade will begin at the High School of Dundee before travelling down Reform Street and arriving in City Square at around 3.30pm.

Spectators are encouraged to line the route and support the many organisations and community groups taking part.

What activities will be taking place?

A wide range of free drop-in activities will be available between 3pm and 6pm.

Visitors can contribute to the "We Are Dundee" canvas, leave messages on the Kindness in Dundee chalk board, decorate rocks with Dundee Rocks, take part in activities organised by ScrapAntics and Dundee Play Forum, test their skills with Active Dundee's netball challenge and enjoy giant garden games including Jenga and Connect Four.

Free refreshments will also be available throughout the event.

Will there be live performances?

Yes. Following the parade, visitors will be invited to join a series of cultural dance activities from 3.45pm onwards.

These include Scottish ceilidh dancing with the Mad Ferret Band, African dance sessions with Hope For Families, Yoruba dancing with the Yoruba Community Dundee, Indian dance performances from Bharatiya Ashram Dancers and the opportunity to learn the Egwu Ukwu dance with Nzuko Ndi Igbo Dundee.

Organisers are encouraging people to get involved and try something new as part of the celebrations.

Who can attend?

Everyone is welcome to attend Dundee Get Together.

All activities are free to take part in and there is no need to book. The event has been designed to be family-friendly and accessible, welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds.

Organisers have also produced an Access for All Guide to help visitors plan their trip and access information about travel, facilities and accessibility arrangements.

Dundee Get Together is set to be one of the city's most colourful community events of the year, bringing together hundreds of people to celebrate the cultures, organisations and individuals that make Dundee such a diverse place to live.

With a parade featuring groups from across the city, interactive activities, live performances and plenty of opportunities to meet new people, organisers hope the event will leave a lasting legacy of kindness and connection.

If you're looking for something different to do this weekend, head along to City Square and be part of Dundee's first-ever Get Together.
