Dundee’s secret Cold War bunker is opening its doors once again — and more last-minute tickets have just been released for a special evening tour this Thursday 29 May at 7pm.
Located on Craigiebarn Road, the Cold War-era facility offers a rare and atmospheric glimpse into a hidden part of the city’s 20th-century history.
This underground stronghold was once a crucial part of Britain’s defence strategy during a time when the threat of nuclear conflict loomed large.
Following the success of exclusive guided tours held in March, which quickly sold out, the local heritage charity 28 Group is bringing back the experience for one night only.
The event promises to take visitors deep into the past, exploring how Dundee - and the wider UK — prepared for the unthinkable.
Inside the bunker, guests will discover original features, including control rooms and communications equipment, all preserved to reflect the tense geopolitical climate of the Cold War era. The space served as a monitoring and command hub in the event of nuclear fallout, designed to help coordinate civil defence and ensure local survival.
Organisers say the tours are part of an effort to protect and promote the site’s historical importance while educating the public about a turbulent but often overlooked period in recent memory.
With demand expected to be high once again, those interested are encouraged to act fast to secure a place.
