Almost six years since the closure of the Michelin Tyre Factory in Dundee, Wilkie has announced a huge move to the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc.

The company will become the majority shareholder of MSIP alongside Scottish Enterprise and relocate its manufacturing operations from Kirriemuir and Forfar to Dundee.

This move brings with it the promise of growth and innovation, with up to 600 new jobs and an estimated £50 million investment in advanced infrastructure, technology, and development.

The relocation also allows Wilkie to scale its operations and secure its future as a leading manufacturer.

Relocating to Dundee offers great advantages. MSIP's state-of-the-art facilities will give Wilkie the ability to embrace the very latest technologies and expand its commitment to sustainable manufacturing, leveraging renewable energy resources through wind turbines and the MVV Waste to Energy plant to help further reduce the carbon footprint and further develop its sustainability programs.

While the decision to leave its historic home in Kirriemuir was not an easy one, this move is essential to Wilkie's future.

According to Scottish Enterprise, the current factory no longer meets the needs of modern manufacturing, and Dundee offers more manpower with purpose-built facilities to support the ambitious plans that are in place for the company.

Wilkie has pledged to stand by the community at Kirriemuir during this transitional period.

This will include discussions with local councils and residents so that the existing site is left in good condition and guidance offered on its likely future redevelopment.

A consultation process for employees will be launched, looking at supporting staff and offering opportunities within Dundee.

This is an important development for Wilkie, MSIP, and Dundee.

This move will cement Dundee's place as a global leader in advanced manufacturing, technology, innovation, and sustainability.
