A powerful new short film inspired by one of Dundee’s darkest chapters has just been released.
A Witch’s Revenge (Grissel Jaffray) retells the story of Grissel Jaffray, who was accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake on Peter Street in 1669.
The 10-minute film imagines Grissel returning from beyond the grave to seek revenge on those who condemned her - Scrimgeour, Rait and Guthrie, the Presbyterian ministers who signed her death warrant.
Blending historical fact with horror, the film offers a haunting reimagining of a real event that still echoes through Dundee’s past.
Produced by GOMNI and made entirely in Dundee, the film highlights the city’s growing creative scene and willingness to confront its own history.
