A Dundee cafe has launched a new series of free weekly board game sessions aimed at helping people meet others and feel more connected in the city.
Cake or Dice, based in the city centre, has started running the sessions from Wednesday to Friday each week. The idea is simple – people book a free ticket, turn up, and join a table with others who are also coming along to connect.
Each evening features a highlighted board game, giving everyone at the table something to focus on straight away. Organisers say this helps break the ice naturally, especially for those who might feel nervous about meeting new people for the first time.

The sessions are particularly aimed at anyone who is new to Dundee, has recently moved to the area, or is feeling socially isolated and unsure where to start. Rather than having to arrive with a group, attendees can come on their own and know they will be placed with others in the same position.
Cake or Dice is well known locally for its wide range of board games and relaxed atmosphere, making it a natural setting for this type of initiative. The team say they hope to expand the sessions in future if demand continues to grow.
At a time when many people are looking for ways to build friendships and feel part of a community, the new board game evenings offer a low-pressure and welcoming way to get involved. More information and booking details can be found on Cake or Dice’s social media channels.
