A free business programme designed to help people turn their skills and ideas into real businesses is coming to Dundee later this month.
Rebel Business School will host a week-long course in the city this February, offering local people the chance to build confidence and take the first steps into self-employment.
The programme, which will run from 23-27 February from 9.30am to 3pm, is built around practical support rather than theory. It focuses on helping people gain clarity, improve how they present their ideas and learn simple ways to reach customers. The aim is to show that starting a business does not need to be complicated or expensive.
One example of its impact is Stephen, who runs High Level Rope Access. Despite years of experience working on wind turbines, bridges and hard-to-reach sites across the UK, his business had stopped growing. After attending a Rebel course in Stirling, he changed how he spoke about his work and how he approached potential clients. The result was immediate, with renewed momentum and plans to expand across the UK.
Rebel Business School says nearly half of the people who attend its courses go on to launch a business or micro-enterprise. Around 89% report a boost in confidence and business skills after taking part. The organisation was founded in 2012 and has supported thousands of people worldwide.
The Dundee programme is funded by the Scottish Government through the Scottish Pathways Fund and delivered in partnership with DC Thomson. It will take place over one week at DC Thomson & Co Ltd in Albert Square, bringing together workshops, one-to-one coaching and peer support.
Free places are now available for anyone in Dundee who wants to explore starting a business, whether that is a side project, freelance work or a full-time venture. More information and booking details can be found at therebelschool.com/dundee.
