The Dundee Book Festival will return in 2026 – this time with a new partnership with London’s Southbank Centre, one of the UK’s most prominent cultural institutions.
The news was revealed in a major feature on Dundee written by Keira Brown for The National at the weekend.
The announcement follows the success of the festival’s debut in June 2025, which brought together books, libraries, music and culture over three days.
Events were hosted across the city at venues including Marryat Hall, Central Library and Mills Observatory.
Audiences were treated to a line-up featuring acclaimed authors such as Val McDermid and Ambrose Parry, marking the city’s arrival on the literary festival map.
Organisers say the partnership with Southbank Centre will allow the festival to broaden its reach and attract even more high-profile guests in 2026.
While dates and venues are still to be confirmed, Leisure & Culture Dundee has promised the second edition will be “an even bigger celebration of words and ideas.”
The move highlights Dundee’s rising cultural status, with the festival now poised to bring an international dimension to the city’s creative scene.
The collaboration with Southbank Centre underlines ambitions to establish Dundee as a place where literature and the arts can flourish on a large scale.
The news has been welcomed as a sign that the Dundee Book Festival is set to become a permanent fixture in Scotland’s cultural calendar, strengthening the city’s growing reputation as a hub for creativity and ideas.
