The Daily Record just shouted out Dundee’s sunshine status

The Daily Record has joined a growing list of voices recognising what locals have long enjoyed — Dundee’s status as the sunniest city in Scotland.

In a recent piece by Alexander Smail, it highlighted the best places to soak up the sunshine, the paper pointed to Dundee’s impressive average of 1,520 hours of sun a year.

It’s no secret here, but it’s always good to see the city’s bright skies getting a bit of national attention.

It’s not just the weather that sets Dundee apart, though. When the sun’s out, the city comes alive — whether it’s locals heading down to Broughty Ferry Beach for a stroll along the sands, grabbing an ice cream on the waterfront, or exploring green spaces like Magdalen Green and Seabraes.

The Daily Record also spotlighted Broughty Ferry Beach, just a short hop from the city centre, praising its views across the Tay and its appeal to families and adventurers alike.

The beach is a hub for walkers, kayakers, and wildlife watchers — and when the tides and weather align, it’s hard to beat for a day out.

As ever, it’s worth remembering that parts of the beach have seasonal dog restrictions between May and September, but there’s still plenty of space to enjoy the fresh sea air.

With the sun making a welcome appearance in recent days, and summer just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to take advantage of Dundee’s brighter side.
