Right in the middle of Dundee’s City Square sits a restaurant that feels like a world away.
Gidi Grill is where bold West African and Caribbean flavours meet modern fusion dining. It’s vibrant, soulful, and full of energy – both on the plate and in the atmosphere.
The restaurant is a celebration of culture. Step inside and you’re welcomed by a space that’s rich in colour and detail – art pieces, textures and décor that pay tribute to the Caribbean and West Africa. It’s warm, stylish, and bursting with personality.
We visited to try it out and started with warm artisan bread – simple but fresh, the perfect way to ease in.

Then came the mains: a creamy Rasta Pasta with just the right amount of spice, and a rich, cheesy Mac and Cheese that was pure comfort food.
Both dishes were generous, satisfying, and packed with flavour.
Dessert didn’t disappoint either. We went for the strawberry and vanilla Isle of Arran ice cream – smooth, cool, and refreshing – and the spicy triple chocolate cacao and chilli brownie, which brought heat, richness, and sweetness all in one bite.

While our visit was in the evening, Gidi Grill is making a name for itself as a go-to lunch spot – with fast, flavourful dishes served up in the city centre.
It’s the kind of place you’ll want to revisit, whether you’re after a quick bite or a full-on feast.

So if you’re looking for something fresh, flavourful, and full of character, Gidi Grill is well worth a visit. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next plate.
