Primark shoppers in Dundee may notice something different about the city’s Overgate store this week.
The retailer has temporarily rebranded to “Preemark” as part of celebrations marking 50 years on Scotland’s high streets.
The change, which appeared overnight, has been rolled out across all 21 of Primark’s Scottish stores. It comes as a fun nod to how many Scots pronounce the brand name as “Pr-EE-mark” rather than the more familiar “Pr-EYE-mark”.
The milestone is being marked in stores until Sunday 24th August, with window displays in Dundee’s Overgate showcasing the playful rebrand.

The move follows a social media post from earlier this year that reignited the debate over how to say the retailer’s name.
Primark first opened its doors in Scotland in 1975, when shoppers queued up at its Hamilton store for bargain items such as women’s tweed coats for £9.50, Shetland sweaters for £2.85, and children’s dresses for £1.65.
Over the years, the retailer has produced everything from velour tracksuits and gold sequin dresses to Saltire beach towels and Scotland Euros t-shirts.
Today, the brand operates 21 stores across Scotland, employing more than 2,600 people and covering over 755,000 square feet of retail space. In recent years, it has introduced self-service checkouts and Click & Collect to all Scottish branches, including the Dundee store.
Looking ahead, Primark has confirmed it will invest a further £9 million into its Scottish stores over the next two years, building on more than £20 million spent in the past three years.
The move underlines the retailer’s commitment to supporting Scotland’s high streets and retail future.
Across the UK, Primark now runs 197 stores, employing 30,000 people nationwide, and attracting millions of shoppers to local high streets every week.
