🌊 FLOODING UPDATES
Dundee and Angus included in flood-risk outlook
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has highlighted potential flooding impacts across parts of Scotland as both storms approach.
Dundee and Angus are included within the yellow flood-risk outlook for Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October.
Sustained rainfall could lead to rising water levels, flooding of roads and disruption to transport and infrastructure.
SEPA is continuing to monitor conditions and may issue further flood alerts or warnings as necessary.
Residents can check the latest local flood information through SEPA’s Floodline service.
đźš— ROADS AND BRIDGES
🌉 Tay Road Bridge – Restrictions possible
Traffic Scotland has forecast possible restrictions on the Tay Road Bridge as Storm Boelo approaches.
Its latest bridge forecast identifies the possibility of restrictions affecting double-decker buses from approximately 2pm on Saturday, continuing into the evening.
More extensive restrictions, potentially limiting access to cars and single-decker buses, are also possible during brief periods later on Saturday night.
These are forecasts rather than confirmed closures, and motorists should check the bridge’s current status before travelling.
Other roads
Strong winds, fallen branches and surface water could cause disruption across Dundee and surrounding routes.
Drivers are advised to take particular care on exposed stretches of road and allow additional time for journeys.
🚆 PUBLIC TRANSPORT
ScotRail warns of possible disruption
ScotRail has warned passengers to prepare for possible delays and cancellations as Storm Austen and Storm Boelo affect Scotland’s railway network.
Network Rail has outlined plans for speed restrictions across parts of the railway, including routes in eastern Scotland.
Passengers travelling to and from Dundee over the weekend are encouraged to check their services before leaving home.
Further local cancellations or timetable changes will be added here as they are confirmed.
⚡ POWER CUTS AND OTHER DISRUPTION
Risk of electricity supply interruptions
The Met Office has warned that Storm Boelo could cause power cuts as severe winds move across Scotland this weekend.
Fallen trees and damage to overhead infrastructure could affect electricity supplies, with some interruptions potentially affecting mobile communications.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and keep essential supplies, including torches and charged power banks, available.
📢 STAY SAFE AND KEEP UPDATED
With conditions expected to change throughout the weekend, residents and visitors are encouraged to follow official weather warnings and travel advice.
Particular care should be taken around Dundee’s waterfront, exposed areas, parks and woodland during periods of strong wind.
Avoid floodwater, follow temporary closures and stay away from the river’s edge when conditions become dangerous.
Dundee Culture will continue adding updates as further closures, warnings and disruption are confirmed.
