Lidl exploring the possibility of a new store in Broughty Ferry

Lidl has revealed that Broughty Ferry is among hundreds of locations across the UK being considered for potential new stores, as the supermarket chain continues its expansion plans.

The German retailer has published its latest Site Requirements Brochure, outlining areas where it is actively seeking land or premises for future developments. Broughty Ferry features on that list, signalling early interest in bringing a new Lidl store to the area.

The document highlights a wide range of towns, neighbourhoods and city districts where Lidl believes there is demand for additional stores. It forms part of the company’s long-term growth strategy, with hundreds of new locations identified across the country.

At this stage, the inclusion of Broughty Ferry does not confirm that a store will definitely be built. Instead, it means Lidl is open to proposals from landowners and developers who may have suitable sites that meet the retailer’s requirements.

If plans were to progress, any proposed development would still need to go through the formal planning process, including consultation and approval from the local authority.

Lidl has continued to expand rapidly across Scotland in recent years, with new stores opening in a number of locations as it looks to increase its presence and accessibility.

The potential for a new store in Broughty Ferry is likely to spark interest locally, although it remains at an early stage with no confirmed site, timeline or planning application currently in place.
