A fan-led campaign to turn Dundee’s iconic V&A into an official LEGO set is gathering serious momentum, with support now surpassing 2,000 signatures on the LEGO Ideas platform.
The project, which first appeared earlier this year, has also been given a major boost after being selected as a “Staff Pick” by LEGO. The recognition highlights standout designs on the platform and puts the V&A Dundee model firmly in the spotlight among thousands of global submissions.
Created by LEGO enthusiast DraftyDollar, the design reimagines the city’s waterfront landmark in brick form, capturing its striking layered exterior and dramatic angles.
Inspired by the real-life building’s cliff-like design, the model aims to reflect one of Scotland’s most recognisable pieces of modern architecture.
Since its launch, the campaign has steadily built support, moving from just over 100 early backers to now more than 2,000. The latest milestone signals growing interest not just from Dundee, but from LEGO fans and design enthusiasts around the world.
The Staff Pick status is expected to drive even more attention to the project. Designs featured by LEGO staff often see a surge in supporters, bringing them closer to the next major milestone required for official review.
If the submission continues to gain traction, it could eventually reach the threshold needed for LEGO to consider it as a real product.
That process involves a detailed review, where only a small number of fan creations are selected to become official sets sold worldwide.
For Dundee, the prospect of seeing the V&A turned into a LEGO set would be another moment of recognition for the city’s transformation and design identity.
