Crowds gathered along the River Tay today as the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer, Waverley, made her long-awaited return to Dundee.

The iconic vessel, famous for her red, white and black funnels, arrived at the Port of Dundee this morning for the first time in over four decades.

Waverley has been making her way around Scotland on her epic ‘northabouts’ voyage, with today’s visit marking a historic stop in the city. Locals lined the waterfront and Broughty Ferry to catch a glimpse of the beloved ship as she sailed in.

Her arrival sparked nostalgia for many Dundonians who remember her past visits, while for others it was the first time seeing the famous paddle steamer in person.

Waverley is expected to depart the city shortly, waving crowds bid farewell to a vessel that symbolises Scotland’s proud maritime heritage.
