A leading global consultancy has chosen Dundee as its newest home. Effectus Research, which advises companies across the world on business strategy and growth, has set up operations at the city’s new Life Sciences Innovation Hub beside the University of Dundee.

The move strengthens Dundee’s growing reputation as a hub for life sciences and innovation. The Life Sciences Innovation Hub, part of the Tay Cities Region Deal, offers flexible lab and office space designed to help both new and established companies grow.

Dr Morag Martin, Innovation Cluster Manager at the University of Dundee, welcomed the arrival of Effectus Research.

She said it was “fantastic” to see a company with a global reach base itself in Dundee, adding that the hub was built to bring together industry and academia in one place.

Effectus Research was founded in 2010 by Brian Mooney and has since built an impressive international client list, working across sectors such as life sciences, energy and software.

Speaking about the company’s new home, Brian said the hub provides “a fantastic space to collaborate with our academic and industrial partners” while offering top-quality office facilities.

Brian is also actively involved in the local community, serving on the Board of Management at Dundee & Angus College and as a Global Practitioner at Strathclyde University Business School.

His decision to bring Effectus Research to Dundee reflects the city’s growing appeal to forward-thinking businesses.

The Life Sciences Innovation Hub itself is a major development for Dundee, backed by £20.2 million in funding from the Scottish Government through the Tay Cities Region Deal.

The project also received support from Scottish Enterprise, the Wolfson Foundation, the Garfield Weston Foundation, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the University of Dundee.

With more than £116 million of investment already delivered and over 2,400 jobs created across the Tay Cities Region, the addition of Effectus Research highlights Dundee’s role at the forefront of innovation, collaboration, and economic growth in Scotland.
