Gillies in Broughty Ferry has officially lifted the curtain on its much-anticipated Christmas window display for 2025, offering locals a festive scene filled with nostalgia, seasonal sparkle, and a strong sense of community spirit.
The unveiling marks a special milestone for the family-run retailer as it celebrates 130 years in business.
This year’s display brings together the timeless traditions that many associate with the magic of Christmas.
A real Christmas tree, retro decorations, and cosy festive touches all feature in the design, which has been created to evoke the warmth and wonder of the season.
The showcase has been months in the making, with weeks of careful assembly led by the store’s merchandiser, Amy Stevenson.
Gillies described the window as a “little pocket of Christmas magic”, inspired by the joy of old-fashioned decorations and the atmosphere found in homes during the festive period.
By leaning into nostalgia, the team wanted to create a display that feels familiar, comforting, and packed with charm for all ages.
As in previous years, the display also has a charitable purpose. Gillies is using the window to help raise funds for The Archie Foundation, which supports sick children and their families across Tayside and the north-east of Scotland.
The creation of the display has been supported by local partners, including Tayside Forestry, who provided the impressive Christmas tree, and The Scottish Deer Centre, who allowed the team to film with their much-loved deer for the launch.
Gillies is inviting families, shoppers, and visitors to wrap up warm and come along to enjoy the festive scene throughout the season.
With its blend of tradition, creativity, and community support, the window once again highlights why the Broughty Ferry store remains a much-loved part of Dundee’s Christmas celebrations.
