Ambassador Cruise Line has confirmed that cruises will continue to operate from Dundee up to 2028, marking a major vote of confidence in the city’s growing cruise industry.
The cruise operator first began sailing from Dundee in 2023, bringing passengers directly from the city’s port to destinations across Europe. Since then, the sailings have proven popular with travellers looking for “no-fly” cruise holidays departing from Scotland.
The announcement means Dundee will remain part of Ambassador’s future cruise programme for several more years, with bookings for the 2028 season set to go on sale on 12 March.
Although the full itineraries for those sailings have not yet been revealed, previous seasons provide a strong indication of the destinations passengers can expect. Cruises from Dundee have previously travelled to Norway’s famous fjords, with stops including towns such as Stavanger and Eidfjord, offering travellers dramatic scenery and iconic Nordic landscapes.
Other voyages have taken passengers south to European ports in France and Spain, with destinations such as Le Havre, Bordeaux and Bilbao among those previously included on itineraries departing from the city.
Ambassador’s ship Ambition has been the regular visitor to Dundee, carrying more than 1,400 passengers on a range of short breaks and longer voyages across Northern Europe and beyond.
The continued commitment from the cruise line is seen as an encouraging sign for Dundee’s waterfront and tourism sector as the city strengthens its reputation as a departure point for international cruises.
With sailings confirmed through to 2028, the River Tay is set to remain a regular starting point for travellers heading out to explore Europe and beyond.
