The first images showing the construction of a reconstructed Dundee tram front end have been revealed ahead of Dundee Museum of Transport’s upcoming tram-themed exhibition.
Built using original 1926 drawings, the ambitious project is recreating part of a Dundee tram nearly 100 years after it first appeared on paper.
The newly released images capture the tram during the construction phase, offering an early glimpse at the craftsmanship and detail going into the build before the finished reconstruction is unveiled to the public.

Every panel, measurement and feature is helping bring a lost part of Dundee’s transport history back to life, telling the story of the generations of Dundonians who once travelled through the city by tram each day.
Once complete, visitors will be able to step aboard, stand where conductors once stood and experience a small part of a Dundee that no longer exist.

Those involved in the project say the reconstruction has been built with passion, patience and a genuine love for the city’s history, with the tram slowly taking shape behind the scenes in recent months.
The reconstructed tram front end will form one of the centrepieces of Oor Trams: Dundee’s Tram Era Remembered when the exhibition opens next month.
Oor Trams: Dundee’s Tram Era Remembered opens at Dundee Museum of Transport on 8 June.
