Newly shared images have revealed a rare glimpse into Dundee’s past, capturing the city at a pivotal moment of transformation over 20 years ago.
The photographs, taken in 2005 from an office in the Nethergate area, show the demolition of the old pedestrian footbridge linking to the train station, alongside the early construction of the Greenmarket buildings.
At the time, Dundee’s waterfront and city centre were on the brink of major change.

Developments that are now central to the modern city - including the Hilton hotel, Olympia leisure complex and the reconfigured train station - were still to come.
The images offer a snapshot of an “in-between” era, where elements of old Dundee were being cleared away to make space for the regeneration that would follow.

Now, they stand as a powerful reminder of how far the city has come over the past two decades.
The photos were shared by a Dundee Culture follower, preserving a moment in the city’s history that might otherwise have been forgotten.
