Dundee’s Howff Secret Supper Club named Scotland’s best fine dining restaurant

A hidden Dundee restaurant has picked up another major national award after being named Scotland's Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year.

The Howff Secret Supper Club, tucked away beneath the Dundee Cooking Academy on Bank Street, took home the title at the Food Awards Scotland 2026.

It marks another major achievement for the city centre restaurant, which was crowned overall Restaurant of the Year at the same awards in 2025.

The latest accolade therefore gives the Howff back-to-back recognition at the national awards, this time specifically celebrating its fine dining offering.

The Secret Supper Club offers something a little different from a traditional restaurant experience.

Hidden from street level, diners descend into an underground dining room where the chefs themselves are part of the experience.

Guests are served a seasonal eight-course tasting menu, with dishes changing every two months and an optional paired wine flight available.

Rather than traditional restaurant service, the chefs interact with diners throughout the evening, explaining the dishes, ingredients and techniques behind the food.

The restaurant was up against establishments from across Scotland for the Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year title, including Ozzy's Fine Dining Restaurant in Nairn, Fallachan Kitchen in Glasgow, Killiecrankie House in Pitlochry, Inver Restaurant & Rooms in Cairndow, The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant in Crieff, River House in Inverness, Gordon's Restaurant & Rooms in Arbroath and The Dipping Lugger in Ullapool.

Howff Secret Supper Club ultimately took the top prize, with Ozzy's Fine Dining Restaurant receiving Outstanding Achievement and Killiecrankie House recognised for excellence.

The award adds another accolade to the Howff's growing collection and gives Dundee another reason to shout about its independent food and drink scene.

From being named Scotland's Restaurant of the Year in 2025 to Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year in 2026, the city's not-so-secret supper club is certainly making its mark.
