EXCLUSIVE: First look at Riddochs as new city hotspot prepares to open on Friday

A new chapter is about to begin on Dundee’s Nethergate as Riddoch’s prepares to open its doors this Friday, transforming the former Casa site into a multi-space hospitality venue aimed at both daytime visitors and late-night crowds.

Located next to Dundee Contemporary Arts in the former Clydesdale Bank building, Riddoch’s has undergone a significant refurbishment in recent months. Now nearing completion, the venue is being positioned as one of the most versatile new additions to the city centre, combining a restaurant, bar, entertainment space and private hire venue all under one roof.

From a first look inside, the upstairs area is set to offer a more relaxed and social atmosphere. This space has been designed with comfort and flexibility in mind, featuring a reworked bar layout, improved seating flow, and room for live entertainment. Acoustic performers and chilled DJ sets are expected to be a regular feature, creating a setting that can shift easily from daytime dining to evening drinks.

Outside, an upgraded chill-out area adds another layer to the experience, giving visitors the option to enjoy the space in the open air. With its location on the Nethergate, just moments from the city’s cultural quarter, the venue is likely to appeal to both locals and visitors looking for somewhere central and lively.

Downstairs, Riddoch’s is introducing a more dynamic late-night environment. Final works are currently being completed in this area ahead of opening, including the installation of karaoke rooms and VIP spaces. This lower level has been designed as a multi-purpose event space, capable of hosting everything from private parties and society events to themed nights and group bookings.

The team behind the venue brings decades of experience from across Dundee’s hospitality scene, including involvement with popular spots such as Captain’s Cabin and venues within the JF Kegs group. Their aim with Riddoch’s is to create a space that adapts throughout the week, offering something different depending on the time of day and the type of crowd.

With finishing touches now underway, anticipation is building ahead of Friday’s launch. Riddoch’s looks set to bring a fresh and flexible offering to Dundee’s city centre, blending food, music and entertainment in a way that reflects the evolving nightlife and social scene in the city.
