A former Dundee truck driver has sparked nostalgia after sharing photographs of a lorry he once drove featuring the old Dundee: City of Discovery branding after it was the subject of a reminiscence post on Dundee Culture.

John Ovenstone shared images of the trailer he drove across the UK while working for PS Ridgway. The lorry proudly displayed facts about Dundee, promoting the city wherever it travelled.

The trailer included references to Dundee’s pioneering achievements, including its role in inventing the adhesive postage stamp, helping introduce people across Britain to the city’s history.

The images quickly gained attention after they were exclusively shared with Dundee Culture, with many praising the creativity behind using haulage vehicles to promote Dundee long before social media existed.
