Dundee students will be taking over Mills Observatory next week for a science fair

Students from the University of Dundee will take over Mills Observatory later this month as they host the eighth Physics Students’ Science Fair, giving visitors the chance to explore experiments and discoveries created by the next generation of scientists.

The event will take place on Saturday 21 March from 2:30pm to 5:30pm at the observatory in Balgay Park. Organisers say the afternoon will be packed with interactive demonstrations and projects designed to make physics fun and accessible for people of all ages.

Members of the university’s physics department will present a wide range of experiments and displays, giving visitors the opportunity to see science in action. From creative demonstrations to hands-on activities, the fair aims to bring complex ideas to life in a way that is easy to understand.

The annual science fair has become a popular part of the observatory’s events calendar, giving students a platform to share their work with the public while inspiring young people who may be interested in studying science in the future.

Visitors will also have the chance to explore Mills Observatory itself, one of the UK’s oldest purpose-built public observatories and a key part of Dundee’s scientific heritage. The venue regularly hosts astronomy events, exhibitions and family activities throughout the year.
