The Overgate in Dundee has seen a major boost in activity, with a wave of new store openings, lease renewals and refurbishments strengthening the city centre shopping destination.
The centre welcomed ten new retailers over the year, alongside five lease renewals and three significant store upgrades, reflecting growing confidence in Dundee’s retail market.
Since its acquisition by Frasers Group in 2023, Overgate has been undergoing a wide-ranging transformation. That investment is now showing clear results, with sales increasing by more than 30% across the year and occupancy reaching 90% by December. Footfall has also risen as shoppers respond to a refreshed and expanded retail offer.
A key moment was the opening of the new FRASERS store in June, one of the largest retail fit-outs ever delivered in Dundee.
The three-level store created more than 80 jobs and brought together premium fashion, beauty and sports brands under one roof, while also housing Sports Direct, USC and GAME. Its arrival has helped reshape Overgate’s identity and attract a broader range of visitors.
Later in the year, Overgate’s fashion offer was further strengthened by the opening of FLANNELS, bringing luxury and contemporary brands to the centre.
Earlier additions included Clarks, which opened during its 200th anniversary year, and Mango, which introduced one of the first Scottish stores to feature the brand’s new Mediterranean-inspired concept.
Additional openings from Clintons, Nomination, Menkind, Bee Inspired and Oud Studio added further variety, while established retailers such as Ernest & Jones, Flying Tiger and Fuel committed to the centre through lease renewals.
Alongside this, several major brands invested in refreshed stores, including Superdrug, Next, Holland & Barrett and Primark, improving layouts, services and the overall shopping experience.
Beyond retail, Overgate also received wider recognition during the year, including two International Green Apple Environment Awards for sustainability and a Highly Commended award for its security team.
Community support remained a focus too, with the centre’s Christmas Toy Appeal raising more than £10,000 and its free Santa’s Grotto welcoming families from across the city.
