Dundee’s Christmas in the Square has officially opened, transforming City Square into a vibrant festive marketplace that will run until 31 December.

The month long celebration brings seasonal cheer to the heart of the city with Christmas stalls, food and drink offerings, and a selection of funfair rides for all ages.

The opening day saw City Square illuminated with twinkling lights as visitors explored the first round of stalls and attractions.

Families, shoppers and festive day trippers gathered to enjoy the atmosphere, marking the start of what is expected to be one of Dundee’s busiest winter events.

A variety of rides are already proving popular, including the Ferris Wheel, Helter Skelter, Tea Cups, Candy Cane Bungees, Bumper Carz, Race-A-Rama and the Festive Funhouse, while thrill seekers can take on the Freak Out.

These attractions add colour and excitement to the square, making it a must visit destination throughout December.

Food and drink stalls have also drawn early crowds. Visitors can enjoy bratwurst from the Swing Grill, fresh churros, warm crepes, Alpine cheeses and chocolate kisses.

The newly opened Alpine Bar gives people the chance to relax with a festive drink, providing a cosy spot to take in the atmosphere after some time exploring the stalls.

Christmas shopping is another key part of the event, with handcrafted gifts, decorations and local maker products filling the market huts.

With Christmas approaching, organisers expect many to use the market as an opportunity to find unique presents while supporting independent businesses.

The opening of Christmas in the Square marks the beginning of Dundee’s festive season, bringing warmth and energy to City Square despite the winter chill.

With plenty to see, eat, and enjoy between now and the end of the month, the market is set to become a regular stop for families and visitors throughout December.
