Dundee Museum of Transport is preparing to welcome families once again for its annual Blues & Twos event, celebrating the work of local emergency services.

The popular showcase takes place on Sunday 31 August from 10am until 3pm.

The family-friendly event will give visitors the chance to get up close to an array of modern and vintage emergency service vehicles.

Alongside the displays, organisations and volunteers will be on hand to share their expertise and demonstrate the vital role they play in keeping communities safe.

This year’s programme is set to be bigger than ever, featuring contributions from Tayside 4x4 Rescue, Tayside Advanced Motorcyclists – Blood Bikes, Police Scotland and the Road Policing Unit, the Police Camera Unit, International Fire Rescue Fife, Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust, St Andrews First Aid, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

From state-of-the-art response vehicles to historic classics, the mix of exhibits promises to capture the imagination of visitors of all ages. For younger visitors especially, the event offers the chance to sit inside the vehicles and learn directly from the emergency teams who use them.

Sonja Nowicki, Operations Manager at Dundee Museum of Transport, said the event remains a highlight of the museum’s calendar.

“Blues & Twos is one of our most popular events of the year. It’s a great opportunity to see both modern vehicles and equipment as well as vintage ones, while also getting to meet the people behind the uniforms.

We’re so happy to have so much support from local organisations at this year’s event,”

The Blues & Twos event is included in the standard museum admission, allowing visitors to enjoy both the emergency services showcase and the museum’s wider collection. With so many organisations involved, the day is expected to draw strong crowds.

Dundee Museum of Transport continues to play a key role in celebrating the city’s transport history, while events like Blues & Twos bring that history to life in a way that connects past and present.
