Dundee has been showcased to a global audience after featuring in a new flyover video by Google Earth Traveller, which was shared with its 153,000 followers on Instagram.
The video used Google Earth to zoom in on the city before touring several of Dundee’s best-known landmarks. Viewers were taken along the waterfront to V&A Dundee, through the city centre to McManus Galleries, and up to panoramic views from Dundee Law.
Google Earth Traveller is known for creating short, playful flyover videos of cities and places around the world, encouraging followers to guess the location before it is revealed. The Dundee video followed the same format, inviting viewers to test their geography knowledge.
An Instagram poll attached to the post showed mixed results when it came to guessing the city. According to the poll, 57% of viewers said they found the name of the city hard to guess, while 23% said it was an easy guess.
The feature gave Dundee valuable exposure to an international audience, highlighting the city’s striking waterfront, cultural attractions and natural viewpoints from above.
With Dundee continuing to attract attention online for its architecture, museums and scenery, the video added to the growing list of moments where the city has been put on the global digital map.
