Dundee has welcomed some of the biggest names in gaming today as the city hosts its first ever Games Day, part of the international D.I.C.E. Europe conference.

The event has brought industry leaders from across the world to the Waterfront, showing once again why Dundee is seen as a powerhouse for games.

The gathering at The Big Real at Water’s Edge gave visitors the chance to meet rising Scottish talent, hear from leading figures, and see new projects in action.

Organisers said it was important for delegates to experience Dundee, the city where so much of Scotland’s gaming story began.

From Abertay University’s groundbreaking games courses to home-grown successes like Minecraft’s console edition, the city has built a reputation as the cradle of creativity for the industry.

Scotland’s gaming sector has grown rapidly in recent years, with more than 130 companies now creating games and related technology.

Much of that growth can be traced back to Dundee, where generations of developers have launched careers that reach audiences worldwide.

For those visiting from abroad, the day was a chance to see Dundee’s mix of innovation, education and creative spirit up close.

For locals, it was a reminder that the city is not just part of the industry – it continues to lead it.

With around 200 global industry leaders in Scotland this week for D.I.C.E. Europe, Dundee’s role in shaping the future of gaming has never been more visible.

Today’s Games Day proves that the city isn’t just keeping up with the industry – it’s helping to drive it forward.
