Dundee’s St Andrew’s Day Hooley is set to return this Sunday, with organisers unveiling new details for this year’s outing.
Taking place on Sunday 30 November from 3pm to 7.30pm, the free celebration will bring Meadowside and Panmure Street to life with music, performances and activities for all ages.
The Main Stage on Meadowside will feature an afternoon of Scottish music, opening with the Dundee Schools Pipe Band before the Tayside Young Fiddlers, Ceol Dun Deagh and the Mad Ferret Band take their turns on stage.
The evening will build towards a lively performance from Seaword before the Cask Strength Ceilidh Band closes the programme at 6.20pm to round off the festivities.
Panmure Street’s Community Stage will run alongside this with an exciting programme of local talent. Visitors can look forward to Highland dancing, contemporary street routines, fire performers, karate demonstrations, choirs and a range of musical acts.
Performers including Showcase the Street, Pyroceltica and Big Noise Douglas will help celebrate Dundee’s diverse creative community throughout the afternoon.
A major highlight of the Hooley remains the torchlight procession, which will once again start and end at the High School of Dundee playground.
The parade has reached full capacity due to high demand and will take place between 5.30pm and 6.30pm, led by the Lord Provost, alongside local groups and invited guests.
This year’s event theme celebrates St Andrew the fisherman, reflected in a series of giant puppets, colourful characters and street artists appearing throughout the area.
Families will also enjoy a variety of hands-on activities including a Silent Disco, a giant gaming screen with Abertay University, face painting, rock carving and playful underwater-inspired displays.
Urban ReLeaf has supported the build-up to this year’s Hooley with lantern-making workshops held across Dundee.
Led by two artists from What Moves You CIC, the sessions encouraged communities to explore local landscapes and green spaces while creating lanterns inspired by Dundee’s stories and waterways.
Council leader Mark Flynn highlighted the return of the Hooley as another standout moment for Dundee’s winter programme, praising its blend of Scottish tradition, community talent and family-friendly entertainment.
He encouraged residents and visitors alike to come along and enjoy the atmosphere as the festive season gets underway.
