Dundonians are being encouraged to share their views as the city council begins work on its next Local Development Plan, a key document that will guide how the city grows and develops in the years ahead.
The Local Development Plan, often referred to as the LDP, sets out how land across Dundee can be used. It influences where new homes, businesses and facilities can be built, where development should be limited, and how planning decisions are made. The new plan will be shaped by evidence gathered now, alongside public and stakeholder feedback.
As part of the early stages of the review, two public consultations have opened. Together, they aim to gather ideas, opinions and proposals that will help inform the direction of the next plan before it is formally drafted.
One of these is the Call for Sites, which is aimed mainly at landowners, developers and organisations. This allows people to suggest specific sites they believe could be suitable for future development.
These submissions will help the council understand which areas may be put forward for consideration in the plan.
The second consultation, known as the Call for Ideas, is open to everyone. Communities, residents and organisations are invited to share their thoughts on what the plan should include.
This could range from ideas about land use and housing, to wider issues such as climate change, transport and local infrastructure.
Both consultations are open until 31 March 2026 and can be completed online through the council’s Planning Division consultations webpage.
Further updates on the Local Development Plan review will be shared on the council’s website as the process continues
