Dundee has been named the best city in Scotland for graduates in 2025, according to a new report by Compare the Market.
The city also ranks as the second-best destination for graduates across the entire UK, making it a standout choice for those starting out after university.
The findings come at a time when more than 17 million people are graduating across the UK, while job opportunities in many sectors are becoming more competitive.
With employers scaling back on recruitment and living costs on the rise, choosing an affordable and opportunity-rich city has never been more important.
Dundee stood out for its mix of affordable living, good average salaries, and strong quality of life.
According to the study, the average salary for graduates in the city is £28,000, while average rent for a one-bedroom flat sits at just £477 per month – one of the lowest rates in the UK.
Utility bills average £104, and eating out remains budget-friendly, with a typical meal costing £15 and a beer priced around £4.20.
The city also scored 89 out of 100 in Compare the Market’s ‘quality of life’ index, highlighting Dundee’s appeal beyond just financial factors.
From its growing cultural scene to its accessible waterfront, and a reputation for innovation across design, life sciences, and gaming, Dundee continues to attract young talent.
Only Coventry placed higher than Dundee on the UK-wide list, taking the top spot due to a slightly higher average salary and quality of life score.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen was the only other Scottish city to make the top 10, landing at number six thanks to strong salary figures but slightly higher rent and utility costs.
The news marks yet another high point for Dundee, which has gained national attention in recent years for its transformation and growing creative industries.
