Discovery Point will be opening its doors for free this September as part of celebrations marking 100 years since Dundee’s iconic ship was given the title RRS Discovery.
From Friday 12 to Tuesday 16 September, visitors will be able to explore the museum and ship at no cost, with a packed programme of special events taking place across the weekend.
On 13 and 14 September, scientists and oceanographers from across the UK will join the celebrations, sharing stories from the sea and bringing the world of marine science to life.
Highlights include a brand new exhibition tracing 100 years of RRS Discovery, interactive sessions with the Scottish Association for Marine Science, and hands-on activities with Dynamic Earth exploring Scotland’s beaches, coasts and seabeds.
Visitors can also discover what lies more than 3,000 metres beneath the waves, and learn about the hidden movements of the ocean with experts from the University of Dundee.
Organisers promise plenty more surprises across the long weekend, making it a must-visit event for families, history lovers and anyone curious about the wonders of the sea.
