A life-size front end of a Dundee tram is being recreated for upcoming exhibition

A life-size reconstruction of the front end of a Dundee tram is taking shape at the Dundee Museum of Transport.

Volunteers are building the replica by hand in time for a new tram-themed exhibition opening on 8 June.

The project is being guided by original technical drawings dated 1926, which the museum says are helping the team match the proportions and design details of the historic vehicles that once ran on the city’s streets.

When complete, the reconstructed cab and platform will be used as an interactive display, allowing visitors to step aboard and get a close-up sense of Dundee’s lost tram network and how people travelled around the city a century ago.

The tram reconstruction will form a centrepiece of the museum’s upcoming tram exhibition, which opens Saturday 8 June. The museum is expected to share further updates as the build progresses
