A Dundee artist is opening a new art exhibition later this month which celebrates her memories of the city with her late grandmother.
Dundee artist Nicola McBride is set to return to Eduardo Alessandro Studios this August with a deeply personal solo exhibition, opening on Saturday 23 August.
Titled A Homage to Granny, the show features 20 new works that explore themes of grief, memory and legacy.

The exhibition follows the loss of McBride’s grandmother to Alzheimer’s earlier this year. In response, she has created a heartfelt body of work to both process her grief and honour her grandmother’s memory.
“Grief is a changeable thing, and it hits you in ways you aren’t prepared for,” Nicola explains.
“These pieces are based around nostalgic memories of iconic places across Dundee she frequented as a child.”
Each work is inspired by vivid recollections of places McBride visited with her grandmother, shaped by stories, conversations and objects that held special meaning.
The exhibition blends emotional storytelling with iconic Dundee locations that locals will instantly recognise.
Familiar landmarks such as the Wellgate Clock, the Tay Rail Bridge, Forte Café, and The Ship Inn feature prominently throughout the show.
These beloved city spots serve as the backdrop to McBride’s personal reflections and shared experiences, giving the exhibition a sense of warmth and familiarity.
A highlight of the show is McBride’s signature scrabble board artwork, which incorporates the Dundonian dialect into each piece.
These playful yet poignant works celebrate the local language and culture, offering a touching connection to both place and memory.
The exhibition promises to resonate strongly with Dundonians and visitors alike, combining local pride with universal themes of love and remembrance.
A Homage to Granny will be on display at Eduardo Alessandro Studios located at 30 Gray Street in Broughty Ferry from Saturday 23 August.
