University of Dundee rises in new Guardian University Guide 2027
The University of Dundee has climbed the UK university rankings in the latest Guardian University Guide, placing it among the country’s top 25 institutions.
Dundee has been ranked 21st in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2027, rising five places from 26th in the previous edition. The university received an overall score of 64.3.
The latest figures show particularly strong results for student satisfaction, with 88.7% satisfied with teaching and 81.4% satisfied with feedback. Dundee also recorded a student-to-staff ratio of 11.3.
The university scored strongly for graduate prospects, with 86% in the guide's "career after 15 months" measure, while its continuation figure - measuring students continuing with their studies - stood at 92%.
The latest ranking puts Dundee alongside the UK's higher-ranking universities and represents an improvement on its position in last year's Guardian guide.
Abertay has high student satisfaction
Abertay University has also been included in the new rankings, placing 65th in the UK, compared with 50th previously, and receiving an overall score of 53.1.
Despite its lower overall position, Abertay recorded particularly high student satisfaction figures. 90.4% were satisfied with teaching, while 86.5% were satisfied with feedback - both higher than the corresponding figures recorded for the University of Dundee.
Abertay's student-to-staff ratio was 21.6, while its career after 15 months figure stood at 74%. Its continuation score was 88.1%, and the university received a value-added score of 6.4 out of 10.
The Guardian University Guide assesses universities using a range of measures covering areas including teaching satisfaction, feedback, student-to-staff ratios, entry standards, continuation and graduate careers.
With two universities represented in the rankings, the latest guide provides another snapshot of Dundee's significant higher education sector, with the University of Dundee recording a notable rise into the UK top 25.
