University of Dundee ranked top in Scotland for student satisfaction across ten subject areas


The University of Dundee has been recognised as Scotland’s top-performing university for overall student satisfaction in ten subject areas, according to the latest National Student Survey (NSS) 2026 results.


The annual survey, which gathers feedback from final-year undergraduate students across the UK, also saw the university’s overall satisfaction score rise to 86.1%, placing Dundee fourth in Scotland overall.


Across Scotland, the University ranked first for overall satisfaction in ten disciplines, highlighting strong student experiences across a wide range of academic subjects.


The subjects ranked number one in Scotland for overall satisfaction are:


  • Architecture

  • Biomedical Sciences

  • Biosciences

  • Children’s Nursing

  • Civil Engineering

  • Computer Science

  • Dentistry

  • Geography

  • Mathematics

  • Pharmacology


The results reflect positive feedback from students on their overall university experience, with the National Student Survey measuring areas including teaching, learning opportunities, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources and the wider student experience.


The latest rankings represent a positive boost for the University of Dundee following the publication of the 2026 survey, with improvements recorded in overall student satisfaction compared with the previous year.


The National Student Survey is conducted annually across higher education institutions throughout the UK, giving final-year students the opportunity to share their views on their university experience and helping prospective students compare courses and institutions.
