Primark in Dundee’s Overgate shopping centre has launched a new sensory-friendly shopping hour aimed at creating a more accessible experience for customers with sensory sensitivities.
The initiative takes place every Saturday between 9am and 10am and introduces a range of adjustments designed to make the store environment calmer and more comfortable.
As part of the launch, Primark Overgate has introduced a dedicated Sensory Friendly Champion, Laura Livie, who helped mark the occasion during the official launch photograph.
Several changes will now be in place during the weekly sensory-friendly hour, including refraining from calling customers to tills, turning off till sounds, and avoiding tannoy announcements throughout the store.
The initiative also focuses on colleague awareness, with staff receiving guidance on supporting customers with additional needs and accepting Support Cards.
Assistance dogs will continue to be welcomed in the store at all times.
Customers looking to plan ahead before visiting can also access pre-visit support information through the Primark website for the Dundee store.
The move has been welcomed as another positive step towards making shopping experiences more inclusive and accessible for everyone in Dundee.
