Sam Hickey eyes dream boxing homecoming at Dundee’s Caird Hall

Dundee boxing star Sam Hickey has revealed his ambition to bring a major professional boxing event to the city’s iconic Caird Hall, potentially attracting around 2,500 fans!
As per Ring Magazine, who reported on Hickey’s plans in an exclusive interview, the 26-year-old Commonwealth Games gold medallist is hoping to stage a professional fight in his hometown as his career continues to progress.
Hickey, who won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, remains undefeated in his professional career, with six victories, including three knockouts.
Despite his success, the former Lochee Amateur Boxing Club boxer has yet to compete professionally in Dundee, having fought in cities including London, Leeds and Dublin.
According to Ring Magazine, Hickey believes his connections with Zuffa Boxing and Sky Sports could help him achieve his ambition of bringing a major boxing event to the Caird Hall.
The publication also reported that 45 young boxers from Lochee Amateur Boxing Club are travelling to London to support Hickey during his latest professional contest, highlighting the impact his achievements have had on the next generation.
Hickey is scheduled to face French boxer Amaury Massenaux at London’s Copper Box Arena tonight, as he continues working towards a potential British middleweight title challenge.
Although no Dundee homecoming fight has been confirmed, the prospect of Hickey headlining a major event at the Caird Hall would be an exciting occasion for the city’s boxing community.
