A prominent Perth Road building is preparing for a fresh start after new owners confirmed a major refurbishment ahead of a Spring 2026 reopening.
The former Clydesdale Bank site, located next to Dundee Contemporary Arts and most recently operating as Casa, will relaunch under the new name Riddoch’s.
The project is being led by a team with decades of experience in Dundee’s hospitality trade, including involvement with Captain’s Cabin and the JF Kegs group.
They have now taken ownership of the building and begun a comprehensive redevelopment programme aimed at completely reimagining the space.
Works are taking place across the entire property, with a focus on redesigned bar areas, improved layout and better seating flow.
The intention is to create a high-quality, flexible venue capable of operating differently throughout the week, appealing to a broad mix of customers.
The upstairs level is being developed as a more relaxed environment, with plans for live acoustic music and chilled DJ sets. Outdoor areas are also being upgraded to enhance the overall experience and provide added versatility.
Downstairs, the late-night space is being designed to operate both as a vibrant social setting and as a private hire venue for groups, societies, teams and organisations looking to host their own events.
Sean Bennett, director at Riddoch’s, said the changes represent far more than a cosmetic update. He described the project as a complete change of identity, purpose and audience, explaining that the building is being stripped back and rebuilt around a different vision.
He added that given its location and history, the ambition is to create a venue that feels like a positive and well-run part of Dundee’s licensed trade.
Riddoch’s will serve casual, high-quality food alongside a carefully considered drinks offering. Further details about menus, music programming and official opening dates are expected closer to launch.
As refurbishment continues, the owners say they will share progress updates and opportunities for the public to engage with the venue ahead of its reopening this spring.
