New weather warnings have been issued for Dundee and the wider Tayside area, with snow and ice expected to bring difficult conditions on Sunday.

The warnings have been put in place by the Met Office as Scotland faces another spell of severe winter weather.

A yellow warning for snow and ice will come into effect in Dundee from 2am until 3pm on Sunday. Forecasters say icy surfaces and periods of snowfall could make travel tricky throughout the day, particularly during the early morning and afternoon.

Alongside this, an amber warning for snow has been issued for parts of Tayside outside Dundee. This higher-level warning will be active from 3am until 2pm and highlights the potential for heavier snowfall, disruption to transport, and difficult driving conditions across the wider region.

The amber warning area stretches beyond Tayside into Central Scotland and the North East, with forecasters warning that some communities could see more significant accumulations of snow.

Bitterly cold temperatures are also expected to continue, increasing the risk of icy roads and pavements.

The latest alerts follow a week of disruption across northern Scotland, where hundreds of schools were forced to close due to severe weather.

With conditions remaining unsettled, authorities are expected to closely monitor the situation as Sunday approaches.

Residents across Dundee and Tayside are being advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys, and take care when travelling.

The Met Office has urged people to stay up to date with forecasts and warnings as conditions can change quickly.
