Flooding disruption continues across Dundee as Overgate retailers affected and McManus delays opening

The aftermath of Tuesday evening’s torrential rain continues to affect parts of Dundee today, with disruption reported at both the Overgate and The McManus.

The Overgate has issued a public notice advising that some retailers may open later than usual following flash flooding inside the shopping centre. Businesses are carrying out cleaning and disinfecting work before welcoming customers, with shoppers encouraged to contact individual stores directly for the latest opening information.

The shopping centre has also confirmed that Five Guys will remain closed throughout Wednesday while staff undertake a full clean of the restaurant following the flooding.

Meanwhile, The McManus has announced it will open later than normal at 12 noon as teams complete final checks and preparations after the impact of the heavy rainfall. The museum has also advised that its customer lift may be unavailable for a period after reopening.

The latest updates follow torrential rain that swept across Dundee on Tuesday evening after a prolonged spell of dry weather. Flooding was reported in several parts of the city, including Lochee, the Hilltown and the city centre.
