Dundee’s cultural landscape was set ablaze on Friday evening, as the much-anticipated LIVEHOUSE venue officially opened its doors.
The inaugural night featured a dynamic DJ set by the legendary Craig Charles, marking a significant moment in the city’s entertainment history.
Situated at 106–110 Nethergate, the venue occupies the historic site of the former Green’s Playhouse and MECCA Bingo hall. After extensive renovations, LIVEHOUSE now stands as a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose entertainment hub.
The opening event saw Charles, renowned for his BBC Radio 6 Music show, deliver an unforgettable funk and soul experience to a full house.
The evening commenced at 7pm, with DJ Patty of All Night Passion setting the tone for the night.

The energy was palpable as attendees danced and celebrated the launch of what promises to be a cornerstone in Dundee’s live music scene.
LIVEHOUSE’s opening is not just a revival of a historic site but a bold step into the future of entertainment in Dundee, and Scotland.
With a current capacity of 2,150 and plans to expand to 4,500, the venue is poised to host a diverse array of events, from concerts to esports tournaments.
